How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, stir together 3/4 cup sugar, flour, 3 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
  • Stir in milk, butter, and vanilla. Mix unitl smooth.
  • Pour into on ungreased 8" glass baking dish.
  • Stir together remaining 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar, and remaining 4 tablespoons cocoa. Sprinkle mixture over batter. DO NOT STIR.
  • Pour hot water over top. DO NOT STIR.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 or until center is almost set. Let stand for 15 minutes.
  • Spoon into individual dessert dishes while still warm. Cobbler makes its own chocolate sauce in the bottom of pan. Spoon sauce over each serving.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Suggestion:
  • Add 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped pecans to batter. Bake as directed.
