How to make it

  • Grease a 9 x 13 pan. Pour boiling water over oats, cover and let stand for 15 mins.
  • Cream together both sugars with the butter, add eggs one at a time till well mixed.
  • Stir together flour, soda, cinnamon and pepper. Add to butter mixture alternately with the oat mixture.Pour into pan. Bake 25 mins

  • Topping:
  • 3 tbsps butter
  • 1 cup chopeed nuts, optional
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, 3 tbsps milk,
  • Mix together , spoon over hot cake and bake for approx 10 - 15 mins till bubbly.
  • If you find that the butter is too hard to mix with the milk just soften in the mocrowave.
  • It doesn't matter if it is melted a little but do not melt completely.
