How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 300F (150C).
  • Grease one 10" round cake pan.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat combine water, salt and sugar. Stir until completely dissolved and set aside.
  • Melt chocolate in either a double boiler or the microwave.
  • Cut the butter up and beat it into the chocolate, one piece at a time. Then beat in the hot sugar water. Slowly beat in the eggs, one at a time.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan. Place this pan into a larger pan and fill the larger pan half way up the sides of the cake pan with boiling water.
  • Bake cake in the water bat at 300F for 45 minutes. The middle will still look wet when its done. *Chill cake overnight in pan.*
  • To unmold, dip the bottom of the cake pan in hot water for 10 seconds and invert onto a serving plate.
