Mama's Chili

- 1 tbsp. vegetable oil shopping list
- 3 medium onions, chopped shopping list
- 6 garlic cloves, chopped shopping list
- coarse salt and ground pepper shopping list
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste shopping list
- 3 tbsp. chili powder shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon shopping list
- 3 lb. ground beef chuck shopping list
- 3 cans (14.5 ounces each) diced tomatoes in juice shopping list
- 1 bottle (12 ounces) lager beer shopping list
- 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) kidney beans, rinsed and drained shopping list
- Shredded cheddar cheese shopping list
How to make it
- 1.In a large pot, heat oil over medium-high. Add onions and garlic. Season with salt and pepper, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 to 5 minutes.
- 2.Add tomato paste, chili powder and cinnamon. Cook, stirring, for 2 to 3 minutes. Add beef, and cook, breaking it up with a spoon until no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
- 3.Add tomatoes with their juice, beer, and beans. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cook over medium heat about 5 minutes or until until chili has thickened slightly and beans are tender. Sprinkle with cheese, if desired.
