How to make it

  • 1. Brown lean ground beef in skillet, stirring with a fork.
  • 2 While beef is browning, saute onion in olive oil, in bottom of large pot.
  • 3 Dump ground beef in with the onion, add cabbage, salt and pepper
  • (plenty of pepper!) At this point, turn oven on to 425. Continue cooking until cabbage is done, stirring occasionally.
  • 4 Meanwhile put pie crust in bottom of pie pan. When beef/cabbage mixture is done, put in pie crust, spread evenly.
  • 5 Top with second crust, pinch and flute edges. Cut vent holes in top crust. Bake in oven for 20 minutes. When done, let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  • Enjoy!
  • *Instead of the fresh onion I will quite often substitute 1-2 cups of the frozen onion/ pepper mix you can buy at the store.
  • **I substitute a 16 oz bag of cole slaw mix for the head of cabbage
