Hot/sweet&sour Tomato Soup-indian Style

- 250 gms tomatoes, chopped shopping list
- 1 onion, chopped shopping list
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed shopping list
- 4 green chillies, chopped shopping list
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste shopping list
- 1 tbsp molasses shopping list
- 1 tsp mustard seeds shopping list
- asafoetida powder-1 pinch (if you can find it) shopping list
- 10 curry leaves shopping list
- 1 red chilli, broken into two shopping list
- 1 tsp coriander seeds roasted & powdered shopping list
- 1 tsp cumin seeds roasted & powdered shopping list
- 2 tsps peppercorns -roasted & powdered shopping list
- cilantro-chopped to garnish shopping list
- vegetable oil shopping list
How to make it
- Boil the tomatoes, chillies and garlic in 4 cups of water.
- Add the ground spices, molasses and tamarind paste and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Heat oil.
- Splutter the mustard seeds.
- Add the curry leaves, red chilli, asafoetida powder and onion and fry for a minute.
- Pour it over the tomato mix.
- Garnish with cilantro.
- Serve hot.
