Easy Indonesian Fried Rice- Nasi Goreng

- 4 cups cold cooked rice(break up lumps and crumble with your fingers) shopping list
- 2 tbsp tamarind paste shopping list
- vegetable oil shopping list
- 8 shallots , chopped shopping list
- 3 cloves garlic , crushed shopping list
- ½ inch fresh ginger , grated shopping list
- 2 tsp curry powder shopping list
- ¼ tsp hot red pepper flakes shopping list
- ¼ tsp turmeric shopping list
- ½ small cabbage , thinly sliced shopping list
- 2 medium tomatoes , peeled,seeded,and diced shopping list
- 3 tbsp soy sauce shopping list
- 1 tbsp brown sugar shopping list
- To Garnish shopping list
- 3 tomatoes , coarsely chopped shopping list
- 1 ¼ red peppers , cored,seeded,and diced shopping list
- ½ cucumber , diced shopping list
- 1 stalk celery , diced shopping list
- Omelette cut into strips shopping list
How to make it
- Stir in the tamarind paste with the rice and set aside.
- Heat some oil in a wok or skillet, add the shallots, and cook for 3-5 minutes, until softened.
- Add the garlic, ginger, curry powder, pepper flakes, and turmeric and cook gently, stirring, for 1 minute.
- Add the cabbage and cook for 3-5 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from pan.
- Heat more oil in the wok, add the rice, and cook gently until lightly browned.
- Return the vegetables to the pan.
- Add the soy sauce and sugar and heat gently to warm through.
- Serve hot, garnished with tomatoes, red pepper, cucumber, celery, and omelet strips.
