Sour Cream Chocolate Cake

- Cake: shopping list
- • 1/2 cup cocoa shopping list
- • 1/2 cup hot water shopping list
- • 1 stick butter, softened shopping list
- • 1 cup sugar shopping list
- • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar shopping list
- • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla shopping list
- • 3 eggs shopping list
- • 1 3/4 cups flour shopping list
- • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder shopping list
- • 1 tsp baking soda shopping list
- • 1 tsp salt shopping list
- • 1 cup sour cream shopping list
- chocolate Fudge Frosting: shopping list
- • 6 to 7 Tb light cream or evaporated milk shopping list
- • 1/3 cup butter, softened shopping list
- • 3 cups powdered sugar shopping list
- • 6 Tb cocoa shopping list
- • 1/8 tsp salt shopping list
- • 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
How to make it
- Cake:
- 1. Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour two 9 inch round baking pans.
- 2. Combine cocoa and water in small bowl; stir until smooth. Set aside
- 3. Beat butter in large bowl until creamy. Add granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla; beat until fluffy. Add eggs; beat well. Stir in cocoa mixture. Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add alternately with sour cream to butter mixture, beating just until blended. Pour batter into prepared pans.
- 4. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Frost with Fudge Frosting.
- Frosting:
- 1. Heat cream in small saucepan until bubbles form around edge of pan; remove from heat and set aside.
- 2. Beat butter in medium bowl until cream. Stir together powdered sugar, cocoa and salt; add alternately with cream to butter, beating to spreading consistency. Stir in vanilla.
