How to make it

  • Cake:
  • 1. Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour two 9 inch round baking pans.
  • 2. Combine cocoa and water in small bowl; stir until smooth. Set aside
  • 3. Beat butter in large bowl until creamy. Add granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla; beat until fluffy. Add eggs; beat well. Stir in cocoa mixture. Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add alternately with sour cream to butter mixture, beating just until blended. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  • 4. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Frost with Fudge Frosting.
  • Frosting:
  • 1. Heat cream in small saucepan until bubbles form around edge of pan; remove from heat and set aside.
  • 2. Beat butter in medium bowl until cream. Stir together powdered sugar, cocoa and salt; add alternately with cream to butter, beating to spreading consistency. Stir in vanilla.
