Easy Brown Turkey Gravy

- turkey neck, liver, giblets, removed from turkey cavity shopping list
- 1 onion diced shopping list
- 1 large celery stalk diced shopping list
- 1/2 small carrot grated or shredded shopping list
- 1 bay leaf shopping list
- 1 clove garlic minced shopping list
- 1-2 Tbs chicken or turkey bouillon paste as desired shopping list
- 1-2 tsp soy sauce shopping list
- 1 tsp poultry seasoning shopping list
- 2 tsp worcestershire sauce shopping list
- 1 splash of gravy Master ( caramel coloring found at any supermarket ) shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
- Instant blend flour to thicken ( Wondra is the leading brand in the States ) shopping list
- pan drippings( see note ) shopping list
How to make it
- Place turkey parts in a sauce pot
- Add onion, celery, garlic, bay leaf
- Cover with water
- Bring to a boil
- Cover and simmer 1 hour or until giblets fork tender
- If you don't use giblets, simmer only 20 minutes
- Remove turkey parts from liquid
- Remove bay leaf
- Fine dice giblets set aside but return turkey neck meat and liver chopped to pot
- Hand blend or place in a blender to make mixture smooth
- Return gravy to pot
- Add fine diced giblets if using
- Bring gravy to a boil
- Sprinkle in enough instant blend flour ( Wondra brand ) to make desired consistency, cooking and stirring only a minute or two
- Remove from heat
- Correct seasonings
- Note: although this gravy is very delish on its own, pan drippings may be added to enrich the flavor
- Yield: 3-4 cups
