Bacon/pea Sald

- 1 kilo bag,(2 x cans) Fresh Garden peas shopping list
- 500gr of bacon(smokey works best) shopping list
- 250 ml good red wine(pinotage) shopping list
- 1 medium red onion shopping list
- 1medium brown onion shopping list
- pepper shopping list
- brown sugar to taste shopping list
- a light olive oil shopping list
- balsamic vinegar,one that compliments the wine you chose. shopping list
How to make it
- oil your skillet/pot/wok
- Add your finely diced brown onion to the oil
- Add pepper,just a sprinkle
- let this brown nicely.
- now add your diced bacon,let this crisp up just a bit.
- cut the red onion into rings and drizzle with Balsamic Vinegar,place in fridge to "chill out"
- Now heres where you "pour yourself some wine"
- now to your onion/bacon/pepper in the pot add half the wine and let this simmer.
- Add two teaspoons of sugar,the aim is to get the mixture all sticky sweet.
- Now add the peas and rest of the wine,let this simmer for 3 minutes making sure the sauce is stired through.
- let the dish cool down and add your Red onion rings.
- works well with Beef Steak and salmon,strangely enough.
