How to make it

  • Simmer raisins in boiling water, cover 15 minutes. Drain well, saving 1/2 cup liquid. Cool.
  • Sift together dry ingredients. Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs. Combine 1/2 cup liquid and vanilla. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with liquid. Fold in raisins and pecans. Turn into 8" square cake pan. Bake in moderate oven 350°, 45 to 50 minutes.
