How to make it

  • Preheat the oven to 200C
  • Line a large tin with greaseproof paper or two small ones (to fit 9 portions)
  • Melt the oil and butter with the water, dates, sugar, salt, nutmeg and molasses in a medium sized pan over a low heat about 5 minutes
  • Stir in the oats and pecans so the oats are thoroughly coated.
  • Shape into roughly 12 round portions or 9 for bigger appetites!
  • Bake for 10 minutes
  • Leave to cool
