Lavender Cream Sauce

- 3 tbsp butter shopping list
- 1 shallot, diced shopping list
- 1 clove garlic, minced shopping list
- 1/2 banana, diced shopping list
- 1 tbsp culinary lavender shopping list
- 1/4 cup flour shopping list
- 2 cups milk shopping list
- salt shopping list
Purple cabbage dye
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- red cabbage shopping list
How to make it
- Pour 1/2 cup water into a small pot, and add cabbage until the water just barely covers it all. Boil for 10 minutes until the water is a dark purple, then reserve. Cabbage leaves can be discarded, served on the side, or pickled.
- Meanwhile, melt butter in a large saucepan. Add shallots, garlic, banana, and lavender. Saute until bananas have started to break down.
- Whisk in flour, cook for another minute until it turns a nutty brown.
- Whisk in milk a little at a time, and bring to a boil.
- Add cabbage dye and stir to combine. Reduce heat.
- Add plenty of salt to taste.
