How to make it

  • Heat the oil in a 3-quart saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add the yellow onion, green pepper and garlic and saute until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the chili powder and tomato paste and saute until rust colored.
  • Spoon the mixture into a 3 1/2 - 4 quart slow cooker.
  • Add the tomatoes, jalapeno, beans and beef and mix well.
  • Cover and cook until the meat is tender and the mixture is juicy but not thin, on low power 6 - 8 hours or on high power 3 - 4 hours.
  • Serve with the toppings as desired.
