Curry-spiced Butter

- 8 tablespoon (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature shopping list
- 3 tablespoons finely chopped red onion shopping list
- 1-2 medium clove garlic, finely minced shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon finely minced ginger shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon curry powder shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 12 hamburger buns shopping list
How to make it
- Heat 2 tablespoons of the butter in the saucepan over medium heat and saute the onion for 3 minutes, until it is limp and translucent. Add the garlic and continue to saute for 1 minute.
- Add the remaining 6 tablespoons butter, the ginger, curry, and salt to the saucepan and blend the ingredients with a wooden spoon. Simmer the butter over medium-low heat for 4 minutes to meld all the seasonings.
- TO SERVE:
- Brush the buns with the butter mixture.
- DO-AHEAD: The butter can be prepared 3 days in advance, cooled to room temperature, and stored, covered, in the refrigerator.
- VARIATION:
- Substitute pita pockets for the hamburger buns.
