How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 375° F.
  • In large mixer bowl, beat the butter, oil and sugars thoroughly.
  • Beat in eggs, vanilla and almond extract until well blended.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar; gradually add to butter and sugar mixture.
  • Drop by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned around the edges. Remove to wire racks to cool.
  • These would be great chilled and rolled in cinnamon and sugar like a snickerdoodle, but I think I am also going to try adding fiori di sicilia and/or orange extract the next time I make them!
