Amish Sugar Cookies

- • 1 cup butter, softened shopping list
- • 1 cup vegetable oil shopping list
- • 1 cup sugar shopping list
- • 1 cup confectioners' sugar shopping list
- • 2 eggs shopping list
- • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- • 1 teaspoon almond extract shopping list
- • 4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- • 1 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 375° F.
- In large mixer bowl, beat the butter, oil and sugars thoroughly.
- Beat in eggs, vanilla and almond extract until well blended.
- Combine the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar; gradually add to butter and sugar mixture.
- Drop by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned around the edges. Remove to wire racks to cool.
- These would be great chilled and rolled in cinnamon and sugar like a snickerdoodle, but I think I am also going to try adding fiori di sicilia and/or orange extract the next time I make them!
