How to make it

  • ~ Let's See What's For Dinner ~
  • Do we have two courses here...
  • First course...Porridge
  • Second course...Porridge
  • Oh Heavens Sakes No!
  • The one stable is...Bread...Water...and a little Wine... (II Kings 18:32).
  • The land was blessed with Milk and Honey.
  • Just look at what Abigail brought to David...
  • Hum? David...Michelangelo's David!
  • Ooops!
  • I'm digressing here :o)
  • In her hand she did deliver...Parched grain...( Yes,David did eat popcorn :o) wheat, barley, honey and curds, sheep and cheese
  • Then she made yougurt mixed with date honey, bread with cheese, mixed fruit platter, vegetable loaves with goat butter, and rack of lamb.
  • Jeez! She did'nt want to 'fleece' him,she just wanted to feel him...besides,eating a sheep was discouraged, probably because the fleece was more valuable than the flesh, and any mutton tender enough to eat didn't have a fleece worth killing it for anyway.Mutton was an inexpensive food source for the military, and it was often overcooked and dry. Many American servicemen had their fill of mutton, coming home to declare it off-limits in the family home. This may be another reason why lamb has not become more popular in the States.A sheep was better alive than dead... So I guess your prayers were answered Mary :o) Let those little lambs graze in the meadowlands...and of course let them nibble away at those blades of grass and taste like salty field...Quiet Man...where is Maureen O'Hara when you need her :o)
  • ~Shucks of grain to be gained~
  • Instead of making bread, grain could also be eaten raw by rolling fresh ears in the hands to free the grain from the husks; there was a law that said you could pluck grain from your neighbor’s field, but not cut it with a sickle.
  • ~and~
  • Dates...let's not forget dates!
  • "Oh Mark Antony honey" in that sweet Cleopatra voice of hers and pointing her pretty little finger,"I want a date!"
  • "Sorry Herod, there is no love lost between us I know, but I just had to have your Date Plantations" :o)
  • Olives ,onion and bread did sustain soldiers for long periods...( Think Crostini :o)
  • ~and~
  • Milk...Ewes and Goats...Milk is sleep inducing.
  • ~and~
  • Lest we forget...Jael gave Sisera milk to drink to lull him to sleep just before she drove a tent peg through his skull..."Would you like some milk dear?"
  • "I noticed that you did'nt close your eyes once all night...really,it will help you sleep"
  • "Wait! Wait! Don't run away,I'm just trying to help you sleep"
  • Even in the Bible...the way to a man's heart was through his stomach.
  • ~but~
  • Keep your eyes open :o)
  • There's lots more to tell...Hum! Lots?
  • Oh yeah!
  • Salt...A Symbol of Permanence :o)
