Ingredients

How to make it

  • White ash is hot...gray ash is not.
  • You need white ash to have these cook as they should.
  • If the weather has been cold,or,wet then heat and dry out the ground where you will have your fire pit...you do this by raging your fire for about an hour or so before allowing it to burn down to coals, you do not want your ash to cool down quickly or turn gray. You want the fire build and to lay down a layer of coals, allow the coals to burn down to white ash.
  • In a bowl combine the whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, beeswing, and the hazlenuts, slowly add the honey, and water, bit by bit,and when the mixture is coming together add the berries.
  • Mix with your fingers only until the mixture is of the consistency to be reached.
  • Do not handle the mixture any more then it should be.
  • Roll out into a round form, and then pat into a round of about one fourth inch thick, place the form carefully onto the hot ash,not the coals, and let it sit until browned to your liking, about three to four minutes, then turn.
  • Remove from the ashes with care, and brush off any remaining ash with your fingertips.
  • Topping could be jam,or any sweetness of your choice.
  • Does a 'Phoenix' rise from the ashes?
  • Could be...
  • Milton...'In Paradise Lost'...Book V
  • Charles Dickens...'All The Year Round'
  • Ovid...The Roman Poet
  • Herodotus...Artemidorus Ephesian in the time of Antoninus Pius...Philostratus...Achilles Tatius
  • 'Book of Coming Forth by Day'...the Egyptian funerary text known as...The Book Of The Dead...chapter 13
