Ingredients

* 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour

* ¾ cup granulated sugar

* 2 Tablespoons cocoa

* 2 teaspoons baking powder

* ½ teaspoon salt

* ½ cup milk

* 2 Tablespoons salad oil or melted shortening

* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

* ¾ to 1 cup chopped walnuts

* ¾ cup brown sugar

* ¼ cup cocoa

* 1¾ cups hot water

Directions

Sift together first 5 ingredients. Add milk, salad oil and vanilla extract; mix till smooth. Stir in nuts. Pour into greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan. Mix together brown sugar and ¼ cup cocoa; sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water over entire batter. Bake at 350° F about 45 minutes. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
