How to make it

  • In a small sauce pan, add water and chocolate
  • heat on low until chocolate melts.
  • When Chocolate is melted, increase heat and add sugar, stirring constantly until mixture starts to boil.
  • When boiling starts, remove from heat then add butter and vanilla.
  • Stir until everything is blended then set aside.
  • In a large bowl, sift together Flour, Sugar, Baking Powder and salt.
  • Cut in the Shortening, then add Milk and Vanilla.
  • Mix until there are no lumps.
  • Add egg and mix in.
  • Pour batter into pre-made pie crust (that is NOT pre-baked).
  • Pour chocolate sauce over batter and sprinkler nuts on top.
  • Bake 350 deg F for 55 to 60 minutes.
  • Pie is done when toothpick comes out clean.
