Colonial Innkeepers Pie

- 1/2 bar Sweet (or semi sweet) baking chocolate shopping list
- 1/2 cup Water shopping list
- 2/3 cup White Granular Sugar shopping list
- 1/4 cup butter shopping list
- 1/5 teaspoon Vanilla Extract shopping list

- 1 cup Flour shopping list
- 3/4 cup Sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla shopping list
- 1/4 cup Shortening shopping list
- 1/2 cup Milk shopping list
- 1 Egg shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (Walnuts or Pecans) shopping list
How to make it
- In a small sauce pan, add water and chocolate
- heat on low until chocolate melts.
- When Chocolate is melted, increase heat and add sugar, stirring constantly until mixture starts to boil.
- When boiling starts, remove from heat then add butter and vanilla.
- Stir until everything is blended then set aside.
- In a large bowl, sift together Flour, Sugar, Baking Powder and salt.
- Cut in the Shortening, then add Milk and Vanilla.
- Mix until there are no lumps.
- Add egg and mix in.
- Pour batter into pre-made pie crust (that is NOT pre-baked).
- Pour chocolate sauce over batter and sprinkler nuts on top.
- Bake 350 deg F for 55 to 60 minutes.
- Pie is done when toothpick comes out clean.
