Kanda Poha Recipe

- • 400 grams of poha (thick variety) or flattened rice shopping list
- • 2 large onions, finely chopped shopping list
- • 1 medium potato (boiled small pieces) shopping list
- • 1 tsp mustard seeds shopping list
- • ½ tsp asafoetida powder shopping list
- • 1/4 cup roasted peanuts (optional) shopping list
- • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder shopping list
- • 1-2 green chilies, or as per taste, chopped shopping list
- • 8 to 10 curry leaves shopping list
- • oil as per requirement shopping list
- • salt to taste shopping list
- • lemon juice to taste shopping list
- • fresh coriander leaves, chopped for garnishing shopping list
How to make it
- • Rinse the poha well in a colander or strainer. Rinse the poha under running water, don’t soak them in water. Poha grains should be soft and moist but not mashed after rinsing.
- • Mix salt to taste to the poha and mix gently
- • Heat oil in a pan.
- • Crackle the mustard seeds in the oil and then add asafoetida and curry leaves.
- • Sauté for sometime and onions and continue to sauté till the onions become translucent.
- • Add green chillies & roasted peanuts and mix.
- • Add turmeric powder and mix.
- • Sauté for few more minutes and add potato and poha.
- • Stir and mix the poha lightly till the poha is heated through.
- • Add lemon juice and mix lightly.
- • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
