Beef Barley Soup Mix

- 1 (1 pint, 16 oz) jar shopping list
- ¾ cup medium pearl barley, separated shopping list
- ½ cup dried lentils shopping list
- 2 tablespoons dried parsley shopping list
- ¼ cup dried minced onions shopping list
- ¼ instant beef bouillon shopping list
- 2 tablespoons celery flakes shopping list
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme leaves shopping list
- 2 bay leaves shopping list
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper shopping list
- ¼ teaspoon dried minced garlic shopping list
How to make it
- Directions: For Jar
- 1. Layer soup kit ingredients in jar in order listed, using half of the barley first and then the remaining barley at the top of the jar. Close jar securely with lid. Attach Cooking instructions.
- Cooking Ingredients for soup:
- 2 pounds stew meat, cut into small bite size pieces, or 2 pounds of ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Contents of jar
- 10 cups water
- Directions for making soup.
- 3. Heat oil in Dutch oven over medium heat and brown the meat. Pour off fat. Add the contents of the soup kit jar and water to Dutch oven; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer; cover and simmer 1 ½ to 2 hours or until the beef is fork tender. Discard bay leaves before serving.
