How to make it

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, oats, baking soda, and salt; set aside. In another large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Add egg, egg yolk, and vanilla and mix well. Stir in flour mixture just until combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Roll dough into 1-1/2 inch balls and place 2 inches apart on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake 8-10 mins. Cool cookies a few mins. on baking sheet. Remove to wire rack and cool completely.
  • Note: Both flours "work", but bread flour makes thicker cookies in my tempermental oven.
