Flaky Ginger Ale Pastry
From eastcoaster 8 years agoIngredients
- 1 cup+ 1 tbsp. flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup frozen margarine, cut into 6-8 pieces( I use Earth Balance) shopping list
- 1/4 cup ginger ale, 7- up, Fresca or soda water ( I use ginger ale) shopping list
- 1/2 tbsp. white vinegar shopping list
How to make it
- Steel knife: Process flour, and margarine with on/ off turns ( about2-3 seconds at a time) until the mixture looks like coarse oatmeal
- Combine ginger ale with vinegar and add through feed tube while machine is running.
- Process just until the dough begins to gather in a mass around the blade, about 8-10 seconds, do not over process.
- Remove dough from machine, divide into two balls, wrap in waxed paper and chill in the fridge for at least one hour or over night.
- The colder the dough, the easier it is to roll out.
- Dough can be frozen baked or unbaked.
- Ever since I have been using this pie crust recipe it turns out great every time. It truly is a no fail pie crust, and also great for pot pies.
