Kansas City Cole Slaw

- • 6 cups shredded cabbage. shopping list
- • 1 cup grated carrot. shopping list
- • 1 small bell pepper, seeded and cut into thin strips. shopping list
- • 2 tsp. salt. shopping list
- • ¾ cup real mayonnaise. shopping list
- • ¼ cup sour cream. shopping list
- • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar. shopping list
- • 1 teaspoon celery seed. shopping list
- • 1/4 cup sugar. Try using raw sugar. shopping list
- • FG pepper to taste. shopping list
How to make it
- 1. In a large bowl, sprinkle 2 tsp. salt over the cabbage and massage it through the cabbage with your hands. Let sit 10-15 minutes, tossing once. Gently squeeze cabbage to release more water.
- 2. Discard the water that accumulated in the bottom of the bowl. Most of the salt will be in the water.
- 3. Combine cabbage, bell pepper and carrot.
- 4. In a smaller bowl, make dressing by combining mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar, celery seed, sugar and pepper. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
- 5. Toss dressing with cabbage mixture and let chill.
- 6. Toss again and serve in a family style bowl.
