Boiled (steamed) Potatoes

- • 1 3/4 lbs. (800 g) new, red boiling potatoes. shopping list
- • Kosher salt. shopping list
- • 1 bay leaf. shopping list
- • 3 Tbs. butter, melted. shopping list
- • 1 Tbs. freshly chopped parsley leaves. shopping list
How to make it
- To Boil:
- 1. Scrub the potatoes well, try not to break the skin.
- 2. Put the potatoes and bay leaf in a medium saucepan and cover with cold water by 2 inches (5 cm.). Salt the water generously.
- 3. Bring to a boil over medium heat and cook the potatoes until tender, about 15 minutes.
- 4. Drain and put the potatoes in a serving bowl. Drizzle with melted butter and sprinkle with parsley. Toss and serve.
- To Steam:
- 1. Scrub the potatoes well, try not to break the skin.
- 2. Put ½ cup of water and the bay leaf in a medium saucepan and put in your steaming rack. Arrange the potatoes evenly in the steamer rack and bring the water to the boil.
- 3. Cover tightly, reduce heat to a simmer and steam for 20-25 minutes. Test for doneness with a bamboo skewer, the center of the potatoes should be soft. Do not overcook.
- 4. Turn off the heat and remove potatoes to a serving bowl. Drizzle with melted butter and sprinkle with parsley. Toss and serve.
