How to make it

  • 1. Fry bacon until crisp and well browned.
  • 2. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  • 3. Add chopped onion to the bacon grease and stir until translucent.
  • 4. Add cabbage, pepper flakes, salt and pepper, stirring until the cabbage is coated.
  • 5. Add the crumbled bacon bits and cover.
  • 6. Cook over low heat until cabbage is tender. Time depends on how fresh the cabbage is.
  • 7. Remove to a suitable bowel, garnish and serve.
  • You can add bits and pieces to this and I often do. A few small shrimp, some sliced mushrooms, chopped bell pepper, a wee bit of chopped sausage, etc.
