Khichdi (with Lentils)

- Rice 3/4 of a cup shopping list
- Green Gram 1/8 of a cup shopping list
- Split Red Lentil(Masoor Dal) 1/8 of a cup shopping list
- Curry Leaves 4-5 leaves shopping list
- Coriander shopping list
- Green Chilli 2 shopping list
- Ginger Garlic Paste 1/2 Tea spoon shopping list
- Onion 1 Medium side shopping list
- Cumin Seeds 1/4 tea spoon shopping list
- black pepper 3 shopping list
- cinnamon 1 small stick shopping list
- Cardamon 1 shopping list
- cloves 1 shopping list
- Oil 1 table spoon shopping list
- bay leaves dried 1 shopping list
- Salt for taste shopping list
- Star anise 1 shopping list
How to make it
- Dice your onion
- Pan on and oil in
- thrown in onions,cumin seeds,curry leaves,horizontally sliced green chilli
- once its starts popping and onion turns light golden color, add ginger garlic and stir on low heat for a minute
- next add cardamon(crushed),Cloves,black pepper and coriander
- Add washed Rice,Lentils mixture with water(2 cups on water) (1:2 ratio to rice/Lentils)
- add cinnamon,bay leaf,star anise and salt for taste
- Just like usual rice wait till you see rice is cooked with nice lentils
- cook with a lid on to preserve the aroma of those lentils
- this food is just good on its own or can be served with Raitha( Curd,Onions,Tomatoes,Green chilli,Coriander mixture)
