How to make it

  • 1. Preheat broiler. Toast the bread to your liking.
  • 2. In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, and pickle. Spread one side of each bread slice with the mayonnaise blend.
  • 3. Pile ham on one slice of bread, and cover with the sauerkraut. Top with the cheese.
  • 4. Broil open faced until the cheese melts. Top with the other slice of toasted bread.
  • 5. Slice on the diagonal and serve.
  • A good Pilsner is the only thing to wash a Ruben down with.
