Swedish Meat Balls

- 1/3 cup (1 slice) fine, dry bread crumbs shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 1/2 cup cream shopping list

- 1 tablespoon butter shopping list
- ~ ~ ~ ~ Set 3~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ shopping list
- 3 tablespoons finely chopped onion shopping list
- ~ ~ ~ ~Set 4 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ shopping list
- 3/4 pound ground beef shopping list
- 1/4 pound ground pork shopping list
- ~ ~ ~ ~ Set 5~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 3/4 teaspoon sugar shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper shopping list
- ~ ~ ~ ~ Set 6~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ shopping list
- 2 or 3 tablespoons butter shopping list
How to make it
- Set out a large, heavy skillet having a tight fitting cover.
- Combine in the order listed, in a large bowl and set aside. (set 1)
- Heat in the skillet over medium heat (set 2)
- Add and cook until transparent (set 3)
- Add to bread crumb mixture, the onions and the butter and (set 4) the ground meats.
- Add spice mixture (set 5)
- Mix thoroughly and beat mixture until smooth.
- Shape into balls about 3/4 inch in diameter.
- Heat in skillet (set 6)
- Add meatballs and brown over medium heat.
- Shake pan frequently to obtain an even browning and to keep balls round.
- Reduce heat, cover skillet, and continue to cook about 10 minutes, shaking pan occasionally.
- Serve meat balls hot or chilled.
- Makes about 48 small meat balls.
