Easy Flaky Pie Crust - Rectangle Pie

- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (make sure it's fresh) shopping list
- 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, cold shopping list
- 5 Tablespoons shortening (also make sure this is cold) shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 3 Tablespoons ice water shopping list
How to make it
- Using regular blade in the food processor. Add all ingredients (except water). Pulse the food processor for three seconds three times. Just enough to lightly combine the ingredients.
- With motor on, pour ice water through the sleeve until you see pea-sized, crumbly dough. Poor dough mixture into a cold bowl. Wearing clean non-latex gloves, press to form a ball. Transfer to plastic wrap and form into a ball. Keep dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before rolling out.
- Wearing disposable gloves, Lightly flour 9x12 rectangle. Press dough entire pan. Pierce with fork and fill and bake. (Note: shorten baking time by 10 minutes)
