How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 375F.
  • Cream the sugar and Crisco or butter. Add the eggs and stir. Mix in baking powder, soda, buttermilk, and vanilla. Stir in flour, slowly, to make a stiff dough.
  • The dough is easiest to work with if it is chilled.
  • Bake 8-10 minutes @ 375F. Don't over-bake.

    Hi, Linda! I haven't made these yet. Only eaten them! She used a cutter. I hope to try this recipe next weekend. I lost it once and she graciously re-gave it to me. She gave minimal directions, so I tried to standardize it--hope I got it right!

    Ooooo, Wow! I can only imagine what buttermilk does for these. A must make for me soon.
