Pasta Sauce

- 1.5 lb. meatloaf/ball mix (ground beef, pork, and veal) shopping list
- 1 lb. ground Italian sausage shopping list
- Olive oil shopping list
- 8 cloves garlic crushed shopping list
- 2 (28 oz) can San Marzano whole peeled tomatoes shopping list
- 1 c. grated Italian cheese (Parmesan or Locatelli or combo of both) shopping list
- 2 generous tsp. dried parsley shopping list
- 1 generous tsp. dried oregano shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
- 1 t. balsamic vinegar shopping list
- 1/2 c. rich red wine (cabernet, chianti) - optional shopping list
How to make it
- In medium sized pot add 1 - 2 T. Olive oil.
- Add ground meat mix and sausage.
- Sautee till lightly browned.
- Add crushed garlic. Sautee another minute or two.
- Add tomatoes (I like to use a stick blender to puree the tomatoes) and red wine if using.
- Let simmer about 1 hour. Stir occasionally.
- Add cheese, parsley, and oregano. Let simmer another hour. Stir occasionally.
- Adjust taste with salt and/or pepper, more cheese or herbs. Let simmer about 30 minutes more or until desired consistency. Stir occasionally.
- When finished add Balsamic vinegar and let cook another minute or two.
