Apple Bread In The Slow Cooker

- You need a baking pan that fits inside your slow cooker and a metal or silicone trivet to place in the slow cooker. Preheat the slow cooker on "high". shopping list

- 1/2-1 cup applesauce, divided shopping list
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed shopping list
- 4 eggs, lightly beaten shopping list
- 4 T butter, softened. shopping list
- 2 apples of choice, diced shopping list
- 2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 3 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon shopping list
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg shopping list
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- Chopped nuts or other additions, optional shopping list
- Select a baking pan that fits in your slow cooker. I used a 2-quart French White casserole dish that fits inside a 5-quart Rival slow cooker. You will need a metal or silicone trivet. shopping list
- Spray your pan with cooking spray for baking and spoon in your dough. shopping list
- Place your pan in a pre-heated slow cooker set to "High". Use a trivet to keep the bottom of your container off the ceramic insert.. Bake for two hours plus time until a toothpick is clean when removed from the dough. shopping list
How to make it
- Cream the softened butter and brown sugar.. Add eggs and beat. Add 1/2 cup applesauce and the diced apples.
- Mix in flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, ground cloves and salt. Stir until moistened. May add up to 1/2 c additional applesauce if mixture appears dry May add nuts, etc., if desired.
- Select a baking pan that fits in your slow cooker. I used a 2-quart French White casserole dish that fits inside a 5-quart Rival slow cooker. I set the dish on a metal or silicone trivet.
- Spray the pan with cooking spray for baking and spoon in your dough.
- Place your pan in a pre-heated slow cooker set to "High". Use a trivet to keep the bottom of your container off the ceramic insert.. Bake for two hours plus time until a toothpick is clean when removed from the dough. I baked mine approximately 3.0 hours. With a ceramic dish, leave the bread in the casserole dish 30 minutes to cool, then turn out onto a cooling rack.
