How to make it

  • Step 1: Brown beef, drain fat, and add in onions, garlic, and jalapeno if using. Saute until translucent. Add in tomato paste and seasonings and saute for a minute.
  • Step 2: Add in half cup of the water/broth and allow to simmer for a few minutes. I personally find this really enhances the end product with respect to flavor.
  • Step 3: Add in all additional ingredients and simmer on low for as long as you like. When ready to dish up finish by stirring in some lime juice
  • Step 4: To serve, ladle into bowls and top with cheese.
  • *Very versatile, eliminate spicy elements if you're not a fan and don't be afraid to use what's on hand. I love to eat this with a grilled cheese - ultimate comfort food
