How to make it
- How to make it:
- How to Make Mushroom Seasoning
- 1. Grind the dried [porcini] mushrooms.
- Place the dried [porcini] mushrooms in a high-powered
- blender or food processor.
- Blend until the mushrooms are a fine powder.
- This took me about three minutes.
- During this step, cover the lid with a towel or mushroom
- powder will escape during blending.
- 2. Let it settle.
- Do not, I repeat do not, open the blender or food processor
- right after blending.
- While blending a fine mushroom powder fills the blender.
- If you open the lid too soon, it escapes.
- Let that powder settle for a minute or two before opening.
- 3. Add the remaining ingredients.
- Once the powder settles, add the remaining ingredients.
- You can pulse a few times to combine or, do like I did,
- and run the blender for a minute for a fine, even
- powder.

- Erma's NOTES For How To Make:
- If you use an 1/8 of a cup (2 Tablespoons)
- and a good sized jar to measure this into,
- it works great.
- Combine all ingredients; mix well.
- Store in an airtight container.
- -
- Remember, ALL the listed herbs and Spices are OPTIONAL!
- IF YOU do NOT want to use something,
- - OR - you want to add something,
- Feel free to do so, these are the ones I use,
- if I do not have something on hand,
- I do without it for that mixture.
- If I want to try a new Herb or Spice,
- I add it for a batch and see if I like it...
- EXPERIMENT!!!
- ENJOY!!!

- Notes: if you use onion salt and garlic salt,
- cut WAY down on the sea salt.
- HOWEVER, the truth is you should NEVER be using
- regular table salt.
- It is super un-healthy for you.
- And it has NO health benenfits, except for the iodine,
- which you can add to your diet yourself.
- You do NOT need to use the bad to get the good!!!
- -
- If you want to take the time you can dry out the
- onion and garlic yourself and powder them.
- It is so much better then the store bought
- pre-powdered stuff.

- Is this mushroom seasoning salt-free?
- No. This mushroom seasoning contains salt.
- Use it in the same quantities you’d use salt in a recipe.
- (Think of it as seasoning salt.)
- If you’d like to omit the salt, you can do so.
- Just know that the flavor of the mushroom will be more
- prominent than the version made with salt.

- NOTES_00:
- Looking for a dried mushroom substitute?
- Use 6 tablespoons nutritional yeast + 2 tablespoons
- garlic powder instead.
- One ounce of dried mushrooms equals 1/2 cup finely
- ground mushrooms.

- NOTE_01:
- REMEMBER!
- If you are exclusively using any salt that
- does not have iodine in it you need to replace
- the iodine in your body by some other means!
- Iodine makes our thyroid work correctly.
- I use seaweed.
- Yet another genetic point that we came/or were
- created, right next to the oceans/seas/waters
- of our world!!!

- NOTES:
- Sea salt can be either unrefined or refined, although
- unrefined sea salt is generally recommended to maximize
- its potential health benefits.
- Refined sea salt, on the other hand, is washed to strip it
- of its trace minerals and often contains harmful food
- additives that trigger leaky gut.

- FAQ
- What is Umami?
- Umami is the fifth taste that’s often referred to as savory,
- alongside salty, sweet, sour, and bitter.
- Humans have taste receptors in our mouths that can sense the
- presence of certain amino acids and nucleic acids in
- foods that we eat, and they register in our brains
- as umami.
- If you wanna learn more about umami, check out "What is Umami"
- post.

- What is Umami Seasoning?
- This Umami Seasoning is a seasoned salt that includes ingredients
- rich in glutamate and GMP.
- This results in a synergy that gives any food you season with this
- salt the taste of umami.
- A couple companies (like Trader Joe’s) are making packaged seasonings
- that combine a variety of umami-rich ingredients to make umami
- powder, but it’s super easy to make at home with this recipe.
- Can I use Umami Salt like regular salt?
- You can use this umami salt as a 1:1 substitute for salt in any recipe.
- Since the other ingredients displace some of the salt, you’ll end up
- with less salt in your food, but it will still be flavorful,
- thanks to the boost in umami.
- If you feel like the food is not sufficiently salted, just add a little
- extra seasoning.
- Is Umami Seasoning vegan?
- I can’t vouch for commercially available seasoning blends, but this
- recipe is vegan and vegetarian friendly.
