Ice Cream Great Grandma Kehlers Way

Back in the 1960's and 70's, My Mother would make this for her and myself once in a while when we were having a Mother Daughter day. I know its simple, but I am putting it out here for the memory of it all.
Ingredients
- Cantaloupe, fresh off the vine out of the garden, sun warmed shopping list
- Ice Cream, your favorite flavor, normally vanilla for us shopping list
- Toppings, again your favs , if any it was whipped cream shopping list
How to make it
- I remember that the cantaloupe was always warm, so we must have just picked it out of our garden.
- Wash the cantaloupe very well as it's shell will be your bowl.
- DO NOT PEEL!!!
- Cut the cantaloupe in half, clean out the seeds and membranes.
- Place each half in its own bowl if you like. We just held them as they were all natural.
- Using a LARGE ice cream scoop, so it will be pretty, scoop out a big scoop of ice cream and place it in the "bowl" of the cantaloupe .
- Top with toppings of choice.
- Enjoy!
- This was great on a hot summer day after a lot of Farm-Girl type work in the garden and such.
