Ingredients
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 cup sorghum (Waconia sorghum)
  • 2½ cups sifted flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup hot water

Directions
  1. Cream sugar and shortening; add egg and sorghum; beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients; mix well. Add hot water and mix. Pour batter into greased 9 x 12-inch pan; bake at 350° F for 35 minutes.
  2. Serve hot or cold with whipped cream. May be garnished with banana (sliced).
