Chicken Paprikes
From hradus 16 years agoIngredients
- 2 medium onions (or more to taste) shopping list
- 2 sticks butter shopping list
- 1 large fryer cut up (or your favorite chicken pieces) shopping list
- paprika (you can’t add too much paprika it makes the delicious flavor) shopping list
- chicken seasoning salt (do not use sage based poultry seasoning) shopping list
- 1 pint sour cream shopping list
- egg noodles shopping list
How to make it
- Chop onions and partially cook in 1 stick of butter and 1 Tbsp. Paprika in large pan. Remove onions to bowl. Sprinkle washed chicken pieces with Chicken Seasoning Salt (or your favorite chicken seasoning) and Paprika front and back. Add another stick of butter to the pan you cooked the onions in and lightly brown the chicken pieces.
- Put all browned chicken pieces in the pan and add the cooked onions and sprinkle with more Paprika. Add enough water to finish cooking the chicken (does not need to be completely covered just enough to have part of the top chicken pieces in liquid so they will finish cooking).
- Cover and simmer until the chicken is done.
- When chicken is done, remove chicken to platter and add about 3/4 of the sour cream to the remaining sauce in pan until the sauce thickens slightly. You can add more Paprika now if you want. Taste sauce until you’re satisfied with the flavor, adding more spice if needed or more sour cream to thicken (or taste)*. Simmer a few minutes to thicken sauce then return chicken to pan with sauce, heat through and serve over egg noodles.
- *If you would like to thicken the sauce even more after the sour cream is added so it will stick to the chicken and noodles, you can add some mixed flour and water until it thickens a little. Heat to bubbling before adding more thickening so you’ll know how thick will get.
