How to make it

  • Add milk to beaten eggs and beat in well
  • Gradually add flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder; mix very well
  • Beat until very smooth
  • Holding the open end of the funnel closed, fill it with the batter
  • Open the end of the funnel and allow batter to run out in a stream into deep, hot oil (375 F on a frying thermometer)
  • Move the funnel to make a pattern........... Starting at the center of the pan and swirling outward in a circle
  • Fry for 2 - 3 minutes, or until brown
  • Drain on absorbent paper and sprinkle with Confectioners' sugar
  • Makes about 30 cakes, depending on size. (hence why it takes about 90 minutes to do all)
