How to make it

  • In a saucepan, bring sugar, water, butter, cornstarch, flour and cocoa to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • Cool and pour equally into the bottom of the unbaked pie shells.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the eggs, cocoa, baking soda, water, lard, salt, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and molasses.
  • Mix until well combined.
  • Pour mixture over top botton-mixture in pie shells.
  • Bake in a 350° oven for 35-40 minutes or until done.
