Ingredients
  • 3/4 C shortening
  • 1 C sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 C molasses
  • 2 C flour
  • 2 tsp soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp cloves
  • 3/4 tsp ginger

Directions
  1. Mix shortening and sugar until encorporated
  2. Add egg and molasses and mix
  3. Combine remaining dry ingredients in separate bowl
  4. Add dry 1/2 dry ingredients to wet and mix, repeat with remaining half
  5. Chill batter at least one hour
  6. Roll dough into 1 tsp balls
  7. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes
  8. Cool on rack then dust with powdered sugar
