My Aunt Anna's recipe, that is similar to a bread and butter pickle but in relish form. It great on sandwiches, with crackers, with roasted meats....

Ingredients
  • 12 lg. cubed cucumbers
  • 9 onions, chopped
  • 1/2 c. salt
  • 2 red peppers, chopped
  • 5 c. vinegar (I used part cider vinegar)
  • 5 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. tumeric
  • 1tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. celery seed

Directions
  1. Layer vegetables with salt, and ice in a large bowl. Let sit 3 hours and drain, rinse and drain well.
  2. Bring remaining ingredients to a boil, add vegetables and bring to a boil again. Reduce heat, stir once gently but don't boil. Cook until vegetables are transparent (about 20 minutes)
  3. Pour into steralized jars, and process in boiling water bath for 15 minutes.
