How to make it

  • Trim and cut meat into cubes.Brown about a 1/4 at a time in butter and oil.
  • Place in heavy fry pan or casserole
  • Brown onions in remaining fat. Add sugar,garlic mushrooms and bacon.
  • Cook slowly until tender. Remove and set aside. Stir flour into pan.Return pan to heat and brow flour.Gradually add wine,stir well until sauce thickens
  • Place sauce,water,stock cubes and bay leaf in a pan with meat bake in oven at 150 c.
  • Cook for about 2 hrs then add onions,mushrooms and bacon and cook for 20,30 mins
  • Add an extra cup of water during cooking if needed.add seasoning and thicken if needed
  • Serve with tossed green salad and boiled rice
