A friend shared recipe with me years ago. Easy preparation. Impressive. Delicious. Crumbled Fig Newtons, toasted pecans, oranges, folded into whipped cream, serve like a parfait, or trifle, or serve from small fruit bowls. Great presentation.

Ingredients
  • COOK CAN BE CREATIVE-
  • 1 package quality Fig Newtons
  • Whole oranges, sectioned, torn gently OR
  • fresh Mandarin oranges OR canned Mandarin Oranges, drained
  • Toasted pecans, chopped
  • Whipped Cream
  • Stemmed Maraschino Cherries for topping, if desired
  • OPTIONAL: May add a sprinkle of cinnamon, almond extract, or rum extract to the whipped cream

Directions
  1. YOUR CHOICE IN PRESENTATION
  2. When completed, the dessert will be like a mousse
  3. Break, by crumbling (about 1/2 inch crumbles) desired amount of Fig Newtons
  4. Gently fold crumbles into bowl with whipped cream
  5. Add choice of oranges (if large oranges, section, and gently tear)
  6. Gently fold into whipped cream/Fig Newton mixture
  7. Dessert can remain in mixing bowl to refrigerate
  8. When ready to serve, can be spooned into parfait glasses, a trifle dish, or small individual fruit bowls
  9. Before serving, sprinkle with Fig Newton smaller crumbs and toasted pecans
  10. Garnish with stemmed Maraschino cherries
  11. ENJOY!
