Ricks New England Turkey Chowder Recipe
After holiday re-use, giving a different look to leftover turkey.

Ingredients
  • 3 slices Bacon, cut in 1/2 " squares
  • 1 medium Potato, chopped in about 3/8" cubes
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup Chopped Onion
  • Water to cover, plus a little
  • 3/4 to 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • ~1/2 teaspoon Zatarain's Liquid Shrimp & Crab Boil
  • 3/4 to 1 cup chopped Turkey (end pieces are fine)
  • 1/2 teaspoon White Pepper
  • Optional : 1 cup frozen Mixed Vegetables
  • 1/2 cup Whipping Cream (35%)
  • 1 and 1/2 cups Skim Milk (If you have Whipping Cream and Skim milk on hand, you can always mix whatever else, like "Half & Half")
  • Optional : Paprika or Creole Seasoning
  • Crackers

Directions
  1. - Fry bacon in 2 qt. pot until partially cooked (no need to drain until later).
  2. - Add diced potato, onion, salt and liquid crab boil.
  3. - Add water, cover and boil 17-18 minutes (longer if you chop potato bigger).
  4. - Drain water off.
  5. - Add turkey, cream, pepper, optional mixed veggies, and milk.
  6. - Simmer, covered, another 15-20 minutes.
  7. - Taste and adjust seasonings.
  8. - Serve with paprika or creole seasoning to sprinkle on top, and Oyster Crackers or Saltines.
