Ingredients
  • 2 Cup flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 dash of salt
  • 1/2 Cup butter
  • 1 Cup PIONEER SUGAR
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/3 Cup orange juice
  • 1 1/2 Cup hazelnuts, ground
  • 1 1/4 Cup pitted dates, snipped
  • 1 tsp. orange peel, grated
  • Blanched hazelnuts, toasted

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease cookie sheets; set aside.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in bowl; set aside.
  4. In a large mixing bowl beat butter on low for 30 seconds.
  5. Add the PIONEER SUGAR and beat until fluffy.
  6. Set mixer on low and add the egg, orange peel and vanilla; combine thoroughly.
  7. Stir in juice.
  8. Carefully add flour mixture.
  9. Stir in ground nuts and dates.
  10. Drop by rounded teaspoons 2-inches apart.
  11. Place a whole nut on top of each cookie.
  12. Bake 10-12 minutes or when edges begin to brown.
  13. Remove to a cooling rack.
