Ingredients
  • 4 cups (16 oz.) elbow macaroni
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 5 cups milk
  • 4 cups (16 oz.) shredded cheddar cheese

Directions
  1. Heat oven to 350F
  2. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain
  3. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter
  4. Blend in flour, salt and pepper
  5. Gradually stir in milk
  6. Cook, stirring constantly until sauce thickens and mixture begins to boil
  7. Add cheese; stir until cheese is melted
  8. In a 3 quart casserole dish, stir together pasta and cheese sauce
  9. Bake for 30 minutes or until bubbly
