How to make it

  • Heat oil.
  • Add cornmeal and salt.
  • Stir constantly until cornmeal has browned.
  • *Important!* Stirring constantly will prevent cornmeal from sticking to pan and burning.
  • When cornmeal is brown, stir in milk.
  • Keep stirring until gravy starts to thicken.
  • Turn off heat. Gravy will thicken more as it cools a bit.
  • Serve over fried potatoes. YUM!
