This is a really different recipe, from an old Taste of home

Ingredients
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 8 slices bread
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions
  1. Spread applesauce of 4 slices of bread, top with remaining bread.
  2. Lightly butter the outsides of the bread.
  3. Toast on hot griddle or pan 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  4. Combine cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle over hot sandwiches.
  5. Serve immediately.
